As part of the outstanding academic contributions of the faculty at the University of Baghdad, the intellectual and cultural community has welcomed the publication of a collaborative scholarly and encyclopedic work entitled “Beyond the Binary: Critical Theory from Plato to Artificial Intelligence,” authored by Assistant Professor Asmaa Makram Al-Saadoun, a faculty member at the Ibn Rushd College of Education for Humanities, University of Baghdad.
Published in Baghdad by the distinguished publishing house DULER, in its first edition (2026), the work offers an in-depth exploration of critical theory and addresses its complex intellectual dimensions, which have long presented challenges for undergraduate and graduate students. It transforms these concepts into accessible and clearly structured research pathways. The book consists of 292 pages and provides a comprehensive and carefully documented account of the development of human critical thought throughout history.
Notably, the work adopts a distinctive educational methodology, with each chapter opening with a rigorous critical essay, while the development of critical traditions is presented through well-documented chronological and historical timelines.
This scholarly achievement represents a valuable addition to the academic library and reflects the intellectual and research contributions of the faculty of Ibn Rushd College of Education for Humanities.
