The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with Clarivate, organized a specialized workshop on building a university system to transform knowledge into economic value, attended by a number of university presidents, researchers, and experts.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry for Scientific Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Haider Abd Dhahd, emphasized the importance of moving universities beyond their traditional role of knowledge production toward building integrated systems that transform knowledge, scientific research, and innovation into economic value. He also highlighted the importance of aligning higher education and research outcomes with the needs of the labor market and productive sectors.
For his part, the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Atiya, stressed the importance of developing the university environment and strengthening the connection between academic knowledge and economic applications, contributing to transforming scientific ideas and research outcomes into applicable projects and solutions.
The workshop included specialized lectures delivered by experts from Clarivate, addressing the foundations of building an integrated university system for knowledge and innovation management, mechanisms for transferring knowledge and technologies from universities to productive sectors, as well as a review of relevant experiences and practices.
The workshop also featured a scientific discussion on ways to develop an innovation-friendly environment in Iraqi universities, strengthen partnerships with the public and private sectors, and transform scientific research outcomes into applications with economic and developmental impact.
