Dr Mohammed Abdulwahid Jayyas, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the College of Education Ibn Rushd for Humanities, University of Baghdad, participated in a meeting held by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to discuss implementation mechanisms and the main pillars of the National Strategy for Education and Social Upbringing 2026–2031.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Salah Hadi Saleh, Head of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority and Chair of the Ministerial Team. Discussions focused on translating the strategy’s objectives into practical programmes and initiatives that promote social values among younger generations, strengthen national identity, revive Iraqi, Arab, and Islamic culture, foster tolerance and respect for religious and sectarian diversity, preserve the Arabic language and encourage its use, and enhance the role of the media in promoting social values.

The meeting emphasised the importance of instilling national and ethical values in younger generations through education, media, and comprehensive social and cultural programmes, thereby fostering social awareness grounded in citizenship, tolerance, and respect for diversity.

Participants also discussed mechanisms for partnership and institutional coordination among the relevant entities, the establishment of a monitoring and evaluation framework, and the development of clear performance indicators to measure programme implementation and assess its impact. These measures are intended to ensure that the strategy’s objectives are achieved within the specified timeframe.

Dr Jayyas’s participation in the ministerial team’s work underscores the role of educational institutions in supporting the implementation of the National Strategy for Education and Social Upbringing, strengthening institutional cooperation and coordination among the relevant entities, and contributing to the development of a society grounded in national and ethical values.
