Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Education Ibn Rushd for Humanities, Prof. Dr Alaawi Sader Jazaa, the Educational Unit for Peace and Human Rights Studies at the University of Baghdad’s College of Education Ibn Rushd for Humanities held an awareness workshop entitled “Combating Human Trafficking and Organ Trafficking” on Sunday, 11 October 2026. The workshop took place in the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, with the participation of a group of students, as part of efforts to strengthen social and humanitarian awareness and highlight the dangers and consequences of these serious phenomena.
The workshop aimed to explain the concepts of human trafficking and organ trafficking, outline their forms and methods, and raise awareness of their humanitarian, social, and legal risks. It also sought to help students distinguish between lawful and unlawful practices and emphasise the role of educational institutions in promoting legal and humanitarian awareness and protecting individuals from becoming victims of these crimes.
The workshop concluded by emphasising the importance of raising students’ awareness of the dangers of human trafficking and organ trafficking, fostering a culture of reporting and prevention, and supporting community and institutional efforts to combat these crimes. It also highlighted the need to continue organising awareness workshops and seminars that help develop an informed generation capable of confronting practices that threaten community security and human dignity.
