The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Al-Zughaibi, accompanied by the Director of the Department of Dormitory Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Bahjat Abdul Karim, opened the Smart Hall for registering students in university dormitories, as part of the university’s efforts to advance digital transformation and simplify administrative and student services.
Al-Zughaibi reviewed the hall’s operational procedures, emphasizing that its opening reflects the university’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation and utilizing modern technologies to improve administrative services, moving from traditional procedures to more efficient and accurate electronic systems that save time and effort and simplify registration procedures for students.
The hall operates through an integrated electronic system that begins with student registration via the Ur Platform and the university’s electronic portal, followed by obtaining an electronic barcode, scheduling an appointment, verifying data, paying fees, and finally issuing the student ID. The system has reduced transaction processing time to approximately five minutes, while also reducing congestion, eliminating queues, organizing student movement, and ensuring fairness and transparency in the order of applicants.
The system also provides real-time data updates, electronic data storage, and daily reports on the number of students and the progress of their applications, thereby improving operational efficiency and reducing delays and errors.
This initiative contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
