The Student Activities Division holds a workshop on the phenomenon of doping among athletes.
The Student Activities Division and the Scouting Unit at the Ibn Rushd College of Education for Humanities at the University of Baghdad held a workshop entitled “The Phenomenon of Doping Among Athletes” on Monday, April 7, 2025. The workshop featured Assistant Professor Dr. Nidal Hashim, Lecturer Dr. Sakna Abdul Razzaq, and Assistant Lecturer Na’am Mufid Hamid, and was attended by a number of college students and staff.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness among athletes about the negative impact of doping on athletes. The workshop provided an understanding of the nature of doping and its impact on the psychological state of athletes. In conclusion, the lecturers recommended the necessity of stopping the phenomenon of using sports performance-enhancing drugs gradually and under the supervision of a specialized doctor, in addition to the necessity for the athlete who uses performance-enhancing drugs to undergo psychological and social therapy sessions as a result of his exposure to depression and anxiety, the negative symptoms resulting from the withdrawal of the performance-enhancing substance from the body.
