The English Department at Ibn Rushd College of Education for Humanities hosted a theatrical performance of William Shakespeare’s play Hamlet in English. The performance was performed by third-year morning students under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Inaam Hashim Hadi. The film was screened in the Ibn Rushd Central Hall on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
The aim of this activity was to enable students to understand the drama curriculum through a documentary film, rather than traditional theatrical presentations. This activity aimed to develop their English language skills and enhance their confidence in practicing the language.
Hamlet is a component of the drama curriculum for third-year students, as it is one of William Shakespeare’s most famous plays in English. Students embodied the characters, events, and major themes during the performance, interacting with each other, and working as a team.
The screening was attended by a number of English Department professors and a large number of students, who hope to encourage our dear students to participate in similar activities in the future. At the conclusion of the presentation, the participating students were honored with thank-you cards by the esteemed Head of the English Department, Assistant Professor Amir Jasb Farih.
