Reflecting the growing commitment to promoting environmental awareness within academic communities, and with the direct support of the Dean of the College of Education Ibn Rushd for Humanities at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alawi Sader Jazaa, and under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Abdulwahid Jayyas, the College launched a comprehensive awareness campaign entitled “Rationalizing Water and Energy Consumption and Protecting the Environment.” The campaign was led by Dr. Wasan Jameel Amer, Director of the Women’s Affairs Unit.

The campaign addressed vital issues related to daily consumption practices both on and beyond the university campus. Its activities highlighted the importance of responsible use of natural resources, emphasizing that reducing water and energy waste and excessive consumption is no longer merely an option, but a national and ethical responsibility that directly contributes to reducing negative environmental impacts and preserving resources for future generations.

The campaign featured active engagement through the distribution of environmental awareness materials among students and staff members.

The organizers sought to achieve more than temporary awareness, aspiring instead to build an integrated university community with a strong sense of environmental responsibility, one that adopts balanced and sustainable consumption practices while fostering individual and collective initiatives to maintain a clean and sustainable educational environment.
