Under the direction of Professor Dr. Alawi Sader Jazaa, Dean of the College of Education for Humanities (Ibn Rushd) at the University of Baghdad, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit has completed an integrated program of awareness and counseling activities for the college’s students in preparation for the new academic year 2026–2027.
Professor Dr. Nadira Jamil Hamad, Head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, stated that the unit’s plan for the new academic year includes holding regular meetings with students from all academic levels and across all scientific departments. These meetings aim to identify the most significant challenges and obstacles students encounter throughout their academic journey and to work toward addressing them in cooperation with the college’s teaching staff.
Meanwhile, Assistant Lecturer Maryam Hashim Jayan, a member of the unit’s Central Committee, explained that this year’s awareness program will feature a series of seminars and activities addressing important contemporary social issues. Key topics include raising awareness of the risks of suicide, drug abuse, and electronic blackmail, in addition to providing a detailed overview of student disciplinary regulations governing conduct on campus.
She added that the activities will also address sensitive issues such as domestic violence and provide students with practical strategies and skills to cope with psychological, personal, and academic pressures. The program will also include preparations for welcoming first-year students and supporting their integration into the university environment.
These sustained efforts reflect the college’s commitment to fostering a safe, stable, and supportive educational environment while helping develop a generation of students who are intellectually and psychologically resilient and capable of effectively confronting diverse challenges.
