The Educational Unit for Peace and Human Rights Studies at the College of Education for Humanities – Ibn Rushd, University of Baghdad, held a training course titled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Promoting Peace and Human Rights Studies”, from June 1 to June 3, 2025, at the discussion hall of the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences.

The course targeted faculty members and staff of the college and was delivered by Dr. Omar Saadi Salim Al-Mousawi and Dr. Nadia Abdul-Kadhim Salman Al-Shammari.

The course covered three main themes:

  1. The concept of human rights and its historical development, starting from the French Revolution.

  2. Artificial intelligence (AI) as a computational technology capable of simulating human thinking and learning.

  3. The relationship between AI and human rights, highlighting how AI can either support or threaten fundamental human rights depending on its design, use, and regulation.
