The Department of Geography at our college organized a training course entitled (The Role of Geographic Environmental Awareness in Combating Drug Abuse in Iraq) for the period (28-30/4/2024) due to the proximity of the International Day Against the Scourge of Drugs on (June 26) and in order to educate the university environment about the dangers of drug abuse and how to be careful of it, the course was lectured by (Prof. Dr. Hanan Naaman Wassin) and (Assistant Professor Muhammad Abdul Wahid Jias) with three main axes.
The first axis included the geographical dimension of drug use across geographical eras, while the second axis referred to the definition of drugs, their types, dangers and geographical distribution. The objectives of the course were to familiarize trainees with the importance of awareness and guidance on the dangers of abuse and addiction, as well as following methods and instructions on how to report addicts and users in light of contacting the hotline (178) designated for the Directorate of Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances.
