Under the patronage of the Dean of the Ibn Rushd College of Education for Humanities at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Alawi Sader Jazea, the Department of English, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, held a workshop entitled “Creative Thinking in University Students.” Lecturers included Assistant Professor Dr. Amir Jassim Farih, Assistant Lecturer Asaad Muhannad Turki, and Assistant Lecturer Marwa Karim Nasser. The workshop was attended by a number of undergraduate and graduate students.
The workshop aimed to highlight how to develop university students’ skills by cultivating creative ideas and encouraging them to think differently and break out of traditional thinking patterns. It also offered various methods for developing these abilities, which will elevate the educational level of university students.
The workshop presented a set of recommendations, the most prominent of which was the need to integrate creative thinking skills into academic curricula, organize specialized training programs to develop creativity, provide platforms for displaying student innovations and projects, encourage teamwork and innovation within classrooms, and promote a culture of acceptance of new and different ideas.
