Ibn Rushd College of Education for Humanities, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop on the types and harms of drugs, conducted by Prof. Dr. Suad Hadi Al-Tai, Prof. Dr. Sulaf Feidhallah Hassan, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Maha Wadhah Abdulamir, in cooperation with the Department of History, the Educational Guidance Unit, and the Continuing Education Unit. The workshop was attended by faculty members and students of the college.

The workshop aimed to raise students’ awareness of the dangers of drug use, encourage them to avoid bad company, activate the role of educational institutions in collaboration with families to protect their children from addiction, and strengthen community security measures to ensure the safety of students and youth.

The presenters highlighted several key findings and recommendations:

  • Emphasizing the essential role of families and educational institutions in mitigating the harms of drugs.

  • Raising student awareness of drug risks through seminars and workshops.

  • Engaging students in artistic and sports activities as a preventive measure.

  • Encouraging families to provide guidance and advice to their children, emphasizing avoidance of drugs and negative peer influences.

  • Promoting cooperation between families and educational institutions to limit drug use.

  • Supporting students in practicing sports and artistic activities to productively utilize their time.
