The College of Education Ibn Rushd for Humanities at the University of Baghdad held a master’s thesis defense entitled “The Impact of the Advance Organizer Strategy on Geography Achievement among Fourth-Year Literary Students and the Development of Their Geographical Thinking,” presented by Ahmed Mohammed Nayel from the Department of Geography, specializing in Methods of Teaching Geography.
The defense committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Thanaa Yahya Qasim, with Prof. Dr. Bushra Hassan Madhkur serving as a member and supervisor, and Assistant Lecturer Dr. Abdullah Raad Jalal as a member. Assistant Prof. Dr. Wijdan Numan Rashid from the College of Basic Education at the University of Diyala joined the committee as an external member.
The study aimed to identify the impact of the Advance Organizer Strategy on geography achievement among fourth-year literary students and the development of their geographical thinking.
The study found that adopting the Advance Organizer Strategy provides a more effective learning environment than traditional teaching methods. It also promotes cooperation between teachers and students and has a positive impact on developing students’ geographical thinking.
