The College of Education for Human Sciences (Ibn Rushd), University of Baghdad, has achieved a distinguished literary and cultural accomplishment at the Arab and Islamic levels after Zakariya Jameel Mohsen, a student from the Department of History and an accomplished poet, secured fifth place in the sixth edition of the “Maraqi Al-Mujtaba” International Classical Arabic Poetry Competition.
This achievement came amid a highly competitive literary event that featured 46 poems submitted by participants from seven Arab and Islamic countries, including Iraq as the host country, in addition to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The competition was organized by the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Al-Hasan Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him). The event was held within the framework of a cultural vision aimed at promoting authentic classical Arabic poetry as a means of strengthening Islamic identity and preserving the heritage of Ahl al-Bayt.
The College Deanship congratulated the student on this remarkable achievement, praising his literary excellence as a reflection of the college’s commitment to fostering purposeful creativity and supporting talented students in major intellectual and cultural forums.
