The College of Education for Human Sciences – Ibn Rushd at the University of Baghdad held the public defense of a doctoral dissertation on Wednesday morning entitled: “The Effectiveness of an Educational Program Based on the MOCSE Model on Students’ Achievement in Guidance and Mental Health and Its Impact on the Quality of the Educational Environment among Students of Colleges of Education.”
The dissertation was presented by Ms. Nasreen Nasser Khalaf, a doctoral candidate from the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, specializing in Curriculum and Methods of Teaching.
The examination committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Dawood Abdul Salam Sabri, with Prof. Dr. Manal Mohammed Ibrahim serving as both supervisor and committee member, in addition to a distinguished panel of faculty members from the department. Prof. Dr. Khalid Jamal Hamdi from the College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Diyala, participated as the external examiner.
The study aimed to develop an educational program based on the MOCSE model and examine its effectiveness in improving students’ achievement in the Guidance and Mental Health course, as well as its contribution to enhancing the quality of the educational environment among students of Colleges of Education.
The findings revealed that the MOCSE-based educational program significantly improved students’ academic achievement by organizing learning experiences in a coherent, engaging, and meaningful manner. This approach enabled students to develop a deeper understanding of the concepts presented in the Guidance and Mental Health course. The improvement in academic performance was also attributed to the program’s use of interactive teaching strategies, which promoted active student participation in the learning process, increased attention, and strengthened motivation toward learning.
