University of Baghdad / Ibn Rushd College of Education for Human Sciences discussed a Master’s thesis entitled “Khawr Abd Allah, 1961–2003” submitted by Lana Waleed Turki from the Department of History, specializing in Modern and Contemporary History. The examination committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Sabah Mahdi Rumaidh and included Professor Dr. Alyaa Mohammed Hussein as supervisor and committee member, Assistant Professor Dr. Methaq Shiyal Zorah as a committee member, and Assistant Professor Dr. Sadiq Fadhel Zughair as an external member representing the Ministry of Education / Al-Rusafa Third Directorate of Education.
The study aimed to highlight one of the most significant maritime passages in the northern Arabian Gulf due to its strategic geographical location and its pivotal role in regional and international navigation and trade. The thesis also examined the historical development of Iraqi–Kuwaiti relations in their social, economic, political, and cultural dimensions, while clarifying the nature and roots of the dispute over Iraq’s only maritime outlet. Furthermore, the study analyzed the historical, political, and navigational developments experienced by Khawr Abd Allah over four eventful decades.
