About Department
An Introductory Overview of the Department: The morning primary (Bachelor's degree) study in the department began in the academic year 1994-1995 and is still continuing to the present time. The evening preliminary (Bachelor's) study began in the academic year 1995-1996, and the study was stopped in the academic year 1998-1999. The study was resumed in the academic year 2008-2009 and is still continuing to the present time. Graduate studies (Masters) were opened in the department in the academic year 1999-2000 and are still continuing to the present time. Postgraduate studies (PhD) were introduced in the department in the academic year 1999-2000 and were stopped in 2009-2010 and 2013-2014 to the present. Approval was obtained to resume postgraduate studies (PhD) for the academic year 2020/2021.
Department Vision:
The department seeks to contribute effectively to advancing knowledge in the fields of Qur’anic sciences and to enhance the student’s scientific ability to understand the meanings of the Holy Qur’an and to teach it. It carries lofty principles and values.
Department Message:
The department's message stems from working on deepening the Islamic identity, consolidating the noble Qur'an contents in the students' hearts, instilling pride in the principles of the Islamic religion and its constitution represented in the Holy Qur'an, strengthening the spirit of religious and national affiliation in them, and qualifying specialists in the sciences of the Qur'an at the scientific level that enables them to serve their country, nation, and true Islamic religion.
Department Objectives:
1. Graduating male and female teachers who are scientifically, educationally, professionally, and culturally qualified to teach all secondary schools the Holy Qur’an and Islamic education. 2. Building an academic environment characterized by creativity within the college contributes to activating the students' abilities as it is one of the pillars of the educational process. 3. Providing universities with teaching and research staff to teach Islamic knowledge. 4. Spreading the values of Islamic culture, spreading the spirit of love and religious tolerance, and rejecting everything that is harmful and stirs discord among the societal components. 5. Contribute to activating the spirit of responsibility towards religion and the nation. 6. Developing scientific thinking, its methods, and innovative and creative skills among students. 7. Qualifying department graduates in primary and postgraduate studies to prepare research and sound scientific studies. 8. Providing research departments and institutions with researchers specialized in Quran studies.
Scientific Activities of the Department:
1—The department celebrates religious occasions annually, such as the Prophet's birthday, the night of Isra and Mi'raj, etc. 2—The department's professors give general Islamic lectures to primary and postgraduate students throughout the academic year. 3—The department's professors participate in research and studies and attend scientific forums of local, Arab, and international Islamic seminars and conferences. 4—The department prepares an annual exhibition of professors' intellectual products and students' scientific, religious, cultural, and artistic activities. 5- Most of the department's teachers prepared research and studies published in various academic and scientific journals, and wrote several books. 6- The professors and students of the department annually volunteer to plant flower seedlings in the college gardens. 7- The department holds an annual conference on Islamic sciences, the Holy Quran, and contemporary challenges.
