About the Student Activities Division

The Student Activities Division at the College of Education Ibn Rushd for Human Sciences is one of the key divisions concerned with developing students’ personalities and refining their talents by organizing and overseeing cultural, sports, artistic, scientific, and social activities, thereby contributing to fostering creativity and a sense of university belonging.

The Division seeks to provide a stimulating university environment that allows students to actively participate in various events, develop their leadership and teamwork skills, and support student initiatives that help build well-rounded individuals capable of serving society.

Moreover, the Student Activities Division represents the university in festivals, competitions, and university championships at both the local and international levels, in alignment with the vision and mission of the University of Baghdad in achieving academic and societal excellence.

Vision

Vision of the Student Activities Division

  1. The Student Activities Division seeks to keep pace with developments and expand the scope of programs in parallel with the university’s growth in all fields.

  2. The Division works on developing activity plans through the active participation of students, faculty members, and staff of the Student Activities Division, as key contributors in proposing ideas aimed at enhancing the plans by increasing motivation, enthusiasm, excitement, and engagement.

  3. The Division ensures that the educational and teaching process aligns with these activities, providing opportunities for the largest possible number of students and staff to participate in sports, artistic, cultural, scouting, and volunteer activities of their interest.

  4. By fostering an understanding of diverse cultures, which are the product of advanced civilizations, the Division contributes to the development of human thought and the advancement of society. From this perspective, the Student Activities Division plays a vital role in cultivating the university student’s cultural awareness, as the university serves as a hub for societal development. Sports, arts, and cultural activities are considered essential pillars of a progressive academic community.

Mission

Mission of the Student Activities Division

The Student Activities Division, represented by sports, artistic, cultural, scouting, and volunteer activities, is an integral part of the comprehensive educational formation, as it:

  • Contributes to achieving the desired balance through sports, artistic, cultural, scouting, and volunteer activities, alongside educational behavior, in order to foster well-rounded student development.

  • Helps refine students’ physical and artistic qualifications, develop their intellectual, cognitive, and psychological abilities, and enable them to understand and respect sports, artistic, and cultural regulations while acquiring civic and social values.

Objectives of the Division

Objectives of the Student Activities Division

  1. Develop and nurture the talents, interests, and inclinations of students and staff, refining and guiding them to spend their free time positively and productively through sports, artistic, cultural, scouting, and volunteer activities.

  2. Positively contribute to building students’ future personalities by fostering responsibility, confidence, cooperation, guidance, and selflessness.

  3. Promote good relationships between students, faculty members, and university staff by involving them in all activities and events organized by the college.

  4. Raise awareness among students in the fields of sports, arts, culture, scouting, and volunteering.

  5. Enable students to acquire knowledge, skills, and experiences, and expand their social and cultural understanding through participation in sports initiatives, artistic events, scouting camps, and scientific conferences.

  6. Prepare teams to represent the university in various sports, scouting, and artistic competitions at local and regional levels, contributing to students’ physical, aesthetic, and artistic development.

Division Tasks


Tasks of the Student Activities Division

The Student Activities Division consists of three main units, each with its own set of tasks:

1. Sports Unit
The Sports Unit is responsible for all internal and external sports activities and events for students. It encourages and trains students, and supervises their participation in all sports-related activities.

2. Arts Unit
The Arts Unit handles all artistic activities and events, including organizing exhibitions and festivals both within and outside the university. It supervises students and contributes to the development of their artistic talents.

3. Scouting Unit
The Scouting Unit participates in scouting festivals and voluntary campaigns, both inside and outside the college.

These activities include organizing sports championships, cultural and artistic festivals, scientific competitions, exhibitions, and awareness seminars, in addition to supporting student initiatives and activities that contribute to building a well-rounded personality and enhancing leadership and teamwork skills among students.

Through its programs, the Division seeks to provide a stimulating university environment that encourages creativity and excellence, and promotes active student participation in various activities both within and outside the university, in alignment with the educational institution’s objectives and societal mission.
