The College of Education Ibn Rushd for Humanities at the University of Baghdad discussed a master\u2019s thesis entitled\u00a0\u201cThe Al-Kaabar Family in Libya: Their Social Activities and Political Role (1909\u20131951)\u201d, prepared by\u00a0Zainab Haider Kadhim, a researcher in the Department of History, specializing in Modern History.<\/p>\n

The thesis committee was chaired by\u00a0Prof. Dr. Baidaa Allawi Shamkhi, with\u00a0Prof. Dr. Afraa Ata Abdul-Karim\u00a0serving as a member and supervisor, and\u00a0Assistant Professor Dr. Hadeel Abdul-Khaliq Abdul-Razzaq\u00a0as a committee member.\u00a0Assistant Professor Dr. Jaafar Mahmoud Salman, from the Second Al-Rusafa Directorate of Education at the Ministry of Education, also joined the committee as an external member.<\/p>\n

The research aimed to examine the origins and emergence of the Al-Kaabar family, as well as to shed light on the family\u2019s role in the political developments that took place in Libya.<\/p>\n

The study concluded that the Al-Kaabar family was one of the most prominent local elites that contributed to Libyan political and social life from the Ottoman era until Libya\u2019s independence. The family also played an important role in resisting the Italian occupation and contributed to supporting the national movement. Furthermore, its activities were not limited to armed resistance; they also included political and administrative work and contributions to the establishment of modern Libyan state institutions.<\/p>\n

Thus, the Al-Kaabar family represents a prominent example of the role played by local elites in the formation and development of the modern Libyan state.<\/p>\n
