<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The College of Education Ibn Rushd for Humanities at the University of Baghdad discussed a master\u2019s thesis entitled “The Impact of Global Warming on the Water Efficiency of the Al-Tharthar\u2013Tigris Canal and Adaptation Measures”, submitted by researcher Saab Abdul Munim Al-Mawla from the Department of Geography, specializing in Physical Geography.<\/p>\n
The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Khamis Al-Mohammadi as Chair, Prof. Dr. Zainab Wannas Al-Hasnawi as Member and Supervisor, and Assistant Prof. Dr. Abdul Salam Mohammed Al-Jughayfi as Member, with the participation of Assistant Prof. Dr. Suhad Hussein Ghashim as an external member from the College of Education at Al-Mustansiriyah University.<\/p>\n
The study aimed to analyze and interpret temperature records for the period 1990\u20132024, estimate the degree of warming, and examine quantitative and qualitative changes in the design efficiency of water resources in the Al-Tharthar\u2013Tigris Canal, as well as assess their suitability for various uses. It also sought to develop a comprehensive strategic plan for adaptation measures to achieve the required water efficiency amid the continued impacts of global warming.<\/p>\n
The study concluded that global warming has been a major factor in causing interconnected changes in both climatic and hydrological systems, leading to a decline in the efficiency of water resources in the Al-Tharthar\u2013Tigris Canal and the deterioration of its environmental characteristics.<\/p>\n
Based on these findings, the researcher recommended improving water resource management, adopting modern irrigation technologies, and expanding land reclamation and desertification control projects to help mitigate the effects of global warming and achieve sustainable water resource management.<\/p>\n
