The examination committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Abdulkarim Fadel Jameel<\/strong>, with Asst. Prof. Huda Abdul Ali Hattab<\/strong> as member and supervisor, Prof. Dr. Nadia Khairi Mohammed<\/strong> as member, and Prof. Dr. Mazen Jassim Mohammed<\/strong> joining as an external member from the College of Education for Humanities, University of Wasit.<\/p>\n

The study aimed to shed light on the linguistic construction of the act of refutation<\/strong> in American presidential debates from the perspective of critical stylistics. Refutation is considered a strategic response to counterarguments. The research analyzed debates from the 2020 and 2024 U.S. presidential elections<\/strong> between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, focusing on how the tools of critical stylistics reflect ideological positions and persuasive intentions.<\/p>\n

The study concluded that refutation in presidential debates is a multilayered communicative act<\/strong>, formed through strategic linguistic choices and deliberate ideological framing, contributing to a deeper understanding and stylistic-critical analysis of political discourse.
